About the Project
We're building a 2D top-down isometric pixel art game set in a solar-punk future with hints of magic. We're looking for a pixel artist and animator to help bring our characters to life.
What You'll Do
- Illustrate and animate pixel art characters that fit the solar-punk aesthetic of the game
- Animate character movement in all 8 directions (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW) at a 32x32 pixel resolution
- Create run, idle, and other core movement cycles that read clearly at a small scale
- Collaborate with the design and development team to ensure animations fit gameplay needs (timing, frame count, silhouette clarity)
- Iterate on feedback and maintain visual consistency across the character roster
- Deliver organized, game-ready sprite sheets
What We're Looking For
- A strong personal portfolio showing pixel art and/or animation work (professional experience not required, we care about skill and style)
- Comfort working within small pixel dimensions (32x32) while keeping characters expressive and readable
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn, 8-directional movement animation for top-down/isometric games
- An eye for color, light, and atmosphere that could suit a solar-punk visual style
- Strong communication and openness to feedback and revisions
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with isometric perspective and tile-based art
- Experience with pixel art tools such as Aseprite, Photoshop, or similar
- Previous game jam, hobby, or personal project experience with sprite animation
